FAQ

1. What is Libera and how does it work?

Libera is a decentralized prediction market platform on Base (Ethereum Layer 2) where you trade on real-world asset price movements—cryptocurrencies, billionaire net worth, stocks, precious metals, and NFT floor prices. Take LONG/SHORT positions (Beginner Mode) or YES/NO shares (Standard Mode) across four timeframes: Hourly, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly. Winners take 99% of the losing pool based on price direction at settlement.

2. What's the difference between Beginner Mode and Standard Mode?

Beginner Mode: Pool-based trading with LONG/SHORT positions. Better entry timing = higher rewards through weighted distribution. Positions lock until expiration—no early exit. Simple interface, 0.25% entry fee. Perfect for learning prediction markets.

Standard Mode: Professional order book with YES/NO shares that pay $1.00 if correct. Trade anytime before expiration with limit orders, stop losses, and TWAP. 0.25% trading fee + 1% settlement fee. Requires understanding of order books.

3. What assets can I trade?

Currently Available:

  • Cryptocurrencies: BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL, DOGE, XRP (24/7 trading)

Coming Soon:

  • Billionaire Net Worth: Forbes/Bloomberg tracked wealth changes

  • US Stocks: Top companies by market cap (market hours)

  • Precious Metals: Gold, Silver (commodity hours)

  • NFT Markets: Floor price movements of major collections

All assets available in Hourly, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly markets.

4. How much do I need to start?

USDC: $100-$300 for trading positions ETH: $1-$2 for gas fees (~10-20 transactions at $0.10-$0.50 each)

Beta Position Limits:

  • Minimum: $10 per market

  • Maximum: $10,000 per market

Keep 10-15% total bankroll exposure across all positions for proper risk management.

5. How does entry-weighted distribution work in Beginner Mode?

Your reward = stake size × entry timing performance. Earlier entries at better prices earn significantly more.

Formula: (Closing Price - Your Entry Price) / Your Entry Price = Individual Win %

Example: Two users stake $1,000 on Bitcoin LONG. One enters Monday at $98,500, another enters Friday at $99,800. Bitcoin closes Sunday at $100,000. The Monday entry earns approximately 7.6x more despite identical stakes—entry timing matters dramatically.

6. What are the fees?

Beginner Mode:

  • Entry fee: 0.25%

  • Settlement fee: 1% (deducted from losing pool)

  • No fees on ties

Standard Mode:

  • Trading fee: 0.25% per trade

  • Settlement fee: 1% on winnings only

  • No fees on ties

Gas: $0.10-$0.50 per transaction in ETH on Base network

7. Can I exit before expiration?

Beginner Mode: No. Positions lock until settlement (1 hour to 30 days depending on timeframe). This eliminates emotional trading and forces thoughtful analysis.

Standard Mode: Yes. Trade YES/NO shares freely anytime before expiration. Exit positions, take profits, or cut losses whenever you want.

8. Which timeframe should I choose?

Hourly: Active traders, news reactions, quick profits (high volatility)

Daily: Part-time traders, overnight positions (moderate volatility)

Weekly: Weekend analysts, balanced pace, best for beginners (lower volatility)

Monthly: Patient investors, fundamental analysis, long-term positions (lowest volatility)

Match timeframe to your lifestyle and risk tolerance. You can trade multiple timeframes simultaneously.

9. How does settlement work?

Oracle captures final price at expiration and compares to opening price:

  • Closing > Opening: LONG/YES wins everything

  • Closing < Opening: SHORT/NO wins everything

  • Closing = Opening: TIE—all stakes returned with no fees deducted

Only direction matters, not magnitude. A 0.1% increase and 10% increase both result in complete LONG/YES victory.

Beginner Mode: Winning pool gets 99% of losing pool, distributed by entry-weighted performance.

Standard Mode: Each winning share pays $0.99 ($1.00 minus 1% settlement fee).

Claim winnings manually after settlement (requires ETH gas fee).

10. What happens if the price doesn't change?

If closing price exactly equals opening price (rare):

  • All stakes/shares are returned

  • No platform fees deducted (not even trading fees)

  • Only gas fees apply for claiming returns
